I was walking through the New York State Fair on Labor Day. People from the large daily newspaper in the area were giving away free copies of the paper.  It was mighty thin.  The newspaper on Labor Day is always mighty thin.  So is the paper on Christmas and New Years Day.

Why do you think the paper is so thin on major holidays?  Is it because the reporters aren’t working?  Nope. It’s because people didn’t send in press releases.  The reporters are always starving for stories on major holidays, but people don’t send in their press releases.  So they wind up printing and selling those emaciated papers.

Major holidays – especially Labor Day, Christmas and New Years Day are great opportunities for publicity.  You blew it this Labor Day, but Christmas is coming up.  Don’t blow it again, Scooter!
